About

I’m a father, a lover,  lawyer, a teacher, a singer of songs and a bunch of other things all at the same time. It’s often confusing. I’m stunned by the richness life can offer and perplexed at how often things go awry.  I hope this space will let me bring the divergent ideas that swirl though my life to an audience of folks who will spread them through theirs.

It isn’t the destination that matters so much as the quality of the journey.

Waves astound me. They're everywhere. Be watchful and enjoy the ride.

Enjoyed reading your musings. I appreciate the music suggestions and will try to look into the recordings. Time is bittersweet, and the Sinatra lyrics haunt me – Jesus! I’m in the autumn of my life! Old memories are precious, even the painful ones, but now I seem to be in the mental emergency room wondering why all the questions haven’t been answered, dreams realized, guilt washed away. It’s 911 for creating new memories, new thrills, and to be involved with something that has greater meaning than paying the mortgage. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
How about a tour of some of that Lake Real estate in Maine?

Hi. My name is April and I have had been disabled by Lyme for almost 10 years now. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago. I am on disability and am not even able to pay all my utility bills, let alone get treatment. My family disowned me years ago for not being the same religion and for the way I love. So I have no support in that way. I was wondering if you knew of any medical/financial support available anywhere for someone in my situation?

    Thanks,

    April

P.S. I hope it was okay to ask if you knew of any help, I figured it couldn’t hurt.

April, I thought carefully about approving this comment, and then decided to go ahead. The appearance is that you’re a spammer. The reality may be quite different. Since I can’t judge, I’ll err on the side of compassion. You should contact the local and state social service agencies in your area and, as you have on-line access, try searching through the various Lyme sites for suggestions about medical resources in your area. You also mention religion, so that might be another good starting point. Whatever your faith. or lack of it, there are institutions whose mission is to serve folks in need. Most importantly, meet people face to face. Pleas for help on websites and through social media are often met with skepticism. Telling someone your story and asking for help eye-to-eye is far more effective. There is always help, but finding it takes some effort and a good heart. I don’t give specific advice here, certainly not medical advice, but you can follow me on Twitter and, if I can, I’ll be happy to try to help you find a path.
